Learning about Recycling

Hello, I am Evan Nadal. When I first started recycling, we placed each of the materials in separate bins. Sometimes, separate trucks would come pick up the cardboard, glass and plastic materials. Today, we can simply place all of the items in a single bin for the truck to pick up each week. The materials are automatically sorted at the facility. After the preparation and processing procedure, the new materials are shipped out to manufacturers that create new packaging and products from those supplies. I want to explore the recycling process from beginning to end on this site. I will talk about manufacturing with recycled materials as well. Please visit my site daily to learn more.

Sell It Or Junk It? Follow This Household Guide To Make A Decision!

by Eleanor Holland

Cleaning out your home is a detailed task that involves a lot of planning and typically a whole lot of garbage. As you go through your belongings, it's natural to want to sell off some items through a yard sale or personal listings. A lot of times items will end up not selling and put you right back in the place you started.

Instead of going through the hassle of selling, haggling, and hanging on to items you no longer want, follow this guide to decide on the best steps to take. Often, hiring a junk removal company is the best option for getting rid of items once and for all.

Go through each category to determine what items you have and the best options to consider.

Computer Equipment

Technology is everywhere and reselling old equipment can help you make quick bucks. It all depends on the type of equipment you have available. Advances in technology have made a lot of old equipment obsolete and ideal for junk removal.

  • Desktop Computers: The rise of powerful laptops and tablets have made desktops even less valuable than before. If your PC is more than a year old, it's a good idea to junk it. Also, junk removal companies can help recycle the equipment so it doesn't just sit in a landfill.
  • Computer Accessories: Keyboards, mice, speakers, and old monitors should take the same journey with the PC to the land of recycled junk. The same applies to printers. Consumers can easily purchase a new printer for affordable prices.
  • Video Game Consoles: All types of video game consoles have a value. These are worth selling to collectors unless there is a major malfunction with the console. It's worth extra if you're able to bundle the console with controllers and games.
  • Tablets: Unless you own a high end tablet, it's probably better to just recycle yours with a junk removal company. Tablets are affordable and available everywhere, making the resale value not worth it.

Furniture

A lot of times, it is a hassle to deal with any type of furniture moving. Unless your couches, love seats, and chairs are in pristine condition, it's a good idea to ditch it all together. Not only do you not have to worry about selling the items, but a removal company can handle all the heavy lifting.

Before junking your furniture, be sure to check under cushions and lining for any coins or valuables that may have been lost.

Televisions

Even with advancements through HD, 3D, and cinematic experiences, older televisions get used on a daily basis. Whether it's a flat screen or a box TV, many people look for cheap televisions to place in garages, recreational rooms, or for a child's first TV. There's a good chance you could make a little extra cash by selling your TV.

If the screen is cracked or the picture doesn't work properly, then you should get rid of the TV. When you are upgrading to a new television, consider getting rid of the old entertainment center at the same time. Newer entertainment centers are catered to modern televisions and have a better fit.

Bedroom Furniture

When you're ready, it's easy to junk mattresses, sheets, and pillows. Clear out the bedroom in one fell swoop. The only worth selling in your bedroom would be the bed frame if it is in good condition. When taking apart the bed frame, check the screws and bolts to ensure there is no rusting or wear. If the bed frame is worn down, it might be easier to have it thrown away with the rest of your bedroom set.

Kitchen Appliances & Furniture

Finish up the junk removal checklist in your home with a quick sweep of the kitchen.

  • Larger Appliances: Microwaves, refrigerators, and stoves are easier to just throw away, especially if they are more than five years old. A junk removal company can properly recycle each item so you don't have to worry about it.
  • Small Appliances: Unless you have an expensive single cup coffee maker, most of the smaller appliances should be added to the junk pile. Single cup coffee makers are still valuable and have a strong market for resale.
  • Dining Room Table: Whether it's a vintage appeal or modern design, your dining room tablet is one of the bigger items that are worth selling. Not only can you sell the table, but you may be able to get money for the dining room chairs.

Making a full list of items you want to get rid of can help keep the process organized. When a removal company comes, the list will ensure that you do not forget anything and can get it all removed at once.
